Basic Information
The word doula means “a woman who serves” in Greek. A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to a family throughout the whole process of pregnancy, labor, delivery, and even early postpartum.
A doula is trained to support any and all births. Natural birth, scheduled induction, emergency or scheduled cesarean section; no matter the kind of birth, all births matter and deserve to be supported.
Doulas utilize different positions, words of affirmation, counter pressure, and other comfort measures to ensure a beautiful and positive birth experience. They also advocate, communicate and provide additional information so you feel comfortable with your birth.
Not only will a doula provide support during a caesarean birth by advocating, communicating, and offering additional information, most of the support is in aftercare or postpartum. Ensuring breastfeeding is established, making sure baby is settled, the mother feels secure and teaching the mother self care, etc.
No matter the type of birth, your doula will help you and your baby establish breastfeeding, answer any questions, and teach you about self care. Your doula can also provide continuous support up to two weeks postpartum. 24/7 text and/or call support, breastfeeding support, etc.
After the two week postpartum period comes to an end, you can contact your doula for additional breastfeeding and/or infant support.
Bereavement
A bereavement doula is a trained professional who supports and serves a family through childbirth that results in loss. A bereavement doula provides comfort during labor and delivery; bridging the gap where life and death meet. Bereavement doulas guide families through their grief and help them to honor and celebrate their child, in all trimesters.
Bereavement doulas provide emotional and physical support to families in bereavement. They help the family to honor and celebrate the baby by aiding in making keepsakes, answering questions, and guiding the immediate family by delegating and advocating for the parents in need.
Additional Support
Additional support is a monthly on call support system. Each month you receive 24/7 call and/or text support and one house call at your convenience if needed.
We offer two additional support packages. Our Newborn and Breastfeeding Support Package and our Prenatal Support Package. For details on each package, please visit our Services page.
No! Anyone can receive additional support whether they were a birth client or not.
If you are not in need of additional support any longer, you can cancel your service. Cancellation should be submitted, at most, five days before the new monthly payment is due. If no payment is made on the new cycle date, it will be assumed you are no longer in need of services and additional support will end.

There is power that comes to women when they give birth. They don't ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it."
